No excuses and NO FEAR

Every year I say that I am going to write more.  Be creative and maybe get the word out there a bit about me, my bike, the PMC and what small part I am taking in trying to help find the cure for cancer.
Well... I have been putting in the effort.  Training, fundraising, going to fundraisers, training and more training (and paying for expensive bike repairs!!!) but my writing still lacks..
1.  Fundraising.  Fundraising is going well.  I am right around $7,300 heading to my goal of $10k.  Will I make it??  Not sure, but I sure am going to try.  $5 here, $25 there and then BOOM we're at $10K.
2.  Training. Training started a bit slow this year but has slowly gained steam and is going well now.  I have added in some early morning, before work rides to help boost my mileage in preparation for August 3rd and 4th.
This morning I went out for a 32 mile ride before work.  That entails getting up at 4:45, leaving the air conditioned comfort of my bedroom and suiting up.  Luckily I was able to convince my buddy Tom that it would be a great idea to ride while the moon was still prominent in the sky so I had some company.  It was a beautiful morning and not yet too hot.  I think I will have to get a few more of these early wake up calls.

First Ride of 2013

It was a busy weekend, finally.  Saturday was my first ride outside of the year.  Just a 20 mile loop around Littleton, Harvard and Boxborough.  It felt great to get back on the bike.  As you can see from the picture above I need a lot of training to get back into mid season form (actually into any form).  I finally finished my 2013 PMC letter and will be sending it out this weekend.  It is one of my harder tasks so I am glad it is done and thank Annie for addressing envelopes!!  Tonight is a fundraiser and I think on Sunday will be my first ride with some teammates.
