Yoga sucks?!?!? Not really but it is very hard.
I went to my second yoga class of 2014. I got one of those Groupon offers for a 10 pack of yoga classes for something like $35 and decided that flexibility was something that I could use.
So here is what I have learned:
1. I am NOT flexible. The many many years of running have made my hamstrings into one solid mass. I try and try to stretch them out but so far, nothing. I am hoping that there will be some improvement over the next eight weeks.
2. Yoga is hard! It looks easy but I promise you that it is not. Try balancing on one leg while keeping your upper body parallel to the floor (Airplane pose). At one point I thought my airplane was going to crash into the nice bamboo yoga floor.
3. Yoga is popular. 6:00 am class and it was packed. Not a dry spot on said Bamboo floors.
4. Yoga is hot!!! I'm not sure what the exact temp of the yoga room is but at one point I had sweat dripping off me at an alarming rate.
5. Yoga is fun.... and I can't wait to punish myself next week.
With yoga and a few runs in this week, I am finally feeling like training has started. Now it is time to shed some pounds. (like 30 of them!!!!!!!!!).
Ride On,
Steve
This is my blog to detail my fundraising and training for the 2016 Pan Mass Challenge. This will be my eighth year with Team Lick Cancer. Last year I was able to raise $11,500 and this year my goal is $13,000.

2014, A new year with new dreams.
A little off season Team Lick Cancer bonding at The Red Parka Pub in North Conway.
A new year is upon us. I am not much for 'resolutions' so I don't really make them (maybe I am afraid of failure??) but this year is one that I will try to be a better person, enjoy life a little more and not sweat the 'little' stuff as much.
I never did send out a recap of last year's PMC and I apologize for that. Some quick numbers I should have sent to you.
1. 39,000,0000 - number of dollars raised by the 2013 PMC that goes directly to cancer research.
2. 497,000 - amount of that raised by Team Lick Cancer (almost 13%!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
3. 10,000 - amount raised by me with your generous support
4. 1,750 - number of miles I rode last year
So I have started training for 2014. I am trying to get at least 20 minutes of exercise in every day. So far it is working. I've been mixing running, yoga, stationary biking and light weight work with the goal of making my spring easier. The 20 minute goal has already got me out on the roads on a couple of days that I would have rather had stayed inside.
Here are some last pictures from the 2013 PMC journey. After these it is on to 2014.
Thanks for reading.
